From a distance,
Some steps closer
And it becomes clear that the sweet candies are actually creating shade
The visitors take in the cloudless sky while squishing in between their toes sand
When an unattractive drop of sweat glides down their faces,
And relish in
There’s not one piece of trash,
Or any over-weight men in too small
And the children frolicking in the waves
When they get salt water in their eyes.
This beach is a sort of utopia,
So perfect it looks as if the loungers could reach up
And grab a piece of the meringue above them
At least, that’s how it looks in the photograph.
